Miso Ginger Dressing

December 22, 2025 by Meera 1 Comment

This creamy, sweet-salty umami rich salad dressing is our go-to for all things Asian inspired. Made with white mild miso, a hunk of ginger, toasted sesame oil, garlic, a touch of sweetness, a little apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar. Basically the usual suspects in any ASIAN inspired dish.

Course Salad Dressing and Vinaigrette
Cuisine Japanese
Servings 1 large cup

Equipment

  • small food processor

Ingredients

  • 3-4 tbsp white miso shiro style
  • 2 inch piece ginger peeled and chopped
  • 3 small cloves garlic chopped
  • ½ cup avocado or any light neutral oil you may not need all of it
  • 2 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp honey, maple syrup or sugar
  • 4 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • sea salt as needed
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds for garnish
  • 3-4 tbsp water or more

Instructions

  • In a blender or food processor, combine the miso, ginger garlic, avocado oil, vinegar, salt, sesame oil, honey along with about 2-3 tablespoons of water. Blend until smooth and creamy. If still too thick dilute by adding a tbsp of water. You want the dressing to be creamy yet thin enough to pour and dress the salad.
  • serve topped with toasted sesame seeds.

This is one of our favorite salad dressing. Also great on simple grilled chicken and fish.
