Chia Berry Smoothie Bowl

Thick and creamy this smoothie bowl tastes like berry heaven in a bowl. Smoothie bowls are quick healthy breakfasts that are rich in complex carbs, healthy plant fats, fiber, and decent amounts of protein when made with some extra protein powder. Generously top it with nuts, seeds, fresh fruit it makes a fiber rich, nutrient rich, fast and delicious breakfast that will keep you full for a while.

Is Chia Berry Smoothie Bowl Actually Healthy? 

  • YES!
  • Chia smoothie bowl is every bit as healthy as regular smoothies. It is made with whole berries and banana. OPTION: to make it less sweet, lightly steam cauliflower florets, cool, freeze as you would sliced banana.
  • This bowl is packed with healthy fats from nuts, whole seeds.
  • Fiber rich whole chia, flaxseeds, berries.
  • Protein from the seeds and you can add a scoop of your favorite protein powder.

How To Make a Chia Smoothie Bowl

If you’ve made a smoothie bowl, it easy to make a chia smoothie bowl. Here’s how to make the best smoothie bowl: 

  1. Soak the chia seeds with milk and place it in the fridge overnight. Slice half a banana. Freeze overnight. 
  2. Next morning, blend the soaked chia seeds, frozen berries, frozen banana, ginger, lemon zest. If needed add a scoop of protein powder and a little extra milk.
  3. Serve with your favorite toppings and dig in asap!

Equipment

  • Food Processor
  • freezer/ fridge

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds heaped
  • 3 oz frozen mixed berries
  • ½ cup Plant milk of your choice more as needed
  • ½ medium banana, sliced and frozen
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • ½ tsp zested lemon

Toppings

  • sliced fruit
  • Chopped nuts
  • flaxseeds
  • toasted coconut flakes

Instructions
 

  • Slice the banana, then place the slices in a freezer safe bowl or jar. Freeze the fruit overnight in the freezer.
  • In a jar or bowl stir the chia seeds with half the milk and place it in the fridge overnight.
  • The next morning, add the chia mixture, frozen berries, frozen banana, lemon zest, ginger and the remaining milk to a food processor. Process until smooth. Transfer to a bowl. Add toppings as needed. Eat right away.
