Carne Asada Tacos

These tacos are so flavorful with just the right amount of heat to them, they remind of the classic street carne asada tacos you’ll find all over Mexico and food trucks everywhere.

What we have going on here is a taco made with thinly sliced flank steak that is spice-loaded, cooked on a hot skillet then tucked in between avocado sauce, pickled vegetable slaw and a squeeze of lime. The combination is simply irresistible and you’ll be coming back for more.

Ingredients You’ll Need For These Tacos

  • Flank Steak: stores now sell thinly shaved flank steak or you can ask the butcher to this for you, if not it can be done at home.
  • olive oil
  • Ground Cumin: essential for any Mexican inspired recipe.
  • Lime or Lemon juice
  • garlic powder: flavor maker
  • Mild paprika
  • Dried oregano: Mexican preferably or regular works well too.
  • Chili powder: I like a combination of Ancho, guiljillo and red chili powder.
  • sea salt
  • Black pepper
  • Ground Chipotle chilli powder or Cayenne: for some heat and smoky flavor.

For The Avocado Sauce

  • Sour cream or greek yogurt: for some bonus creamy texture
  • Fresh lime juice: Adds some zing that makes the flavors pop!
  • Garlic: we’ll need just a little for that punchy flavor.
  • Avocado: ripe, creamy and delicious.
  • Cilantro: for some fresh herby flavor.
  • Jalapeño or Serrano: for some heat, use jalapeño for mild and Serrano for hot
  • Olive oil(optional): Adds a smooth texture that brings it all together!
