Chipotle Sauce

June 29, 2018 by Meera 1 Comment

This is the secret to those delicious restaurant tacos, nachos, burritos. The rose colored creamy chipotle sauce/aioli gets neatly drizzled over Mexican food making it so so delicious and we have come to love. Well its no longer a secret, with a few staples this sauce is simple to make so if you love the Mexican chipotle sauce, make it at home and enjoy the restaurant secret recipe for delicious Mexican food.

Honesty everybody who eats Mexican at my place ask for the recipe. Rightly so because its so darn delicious and helps round off the Mexican flavors specially tacos. So instead of texting them step-by step the ingredients I thought I should post it here that way I can direct them to my blog, Are you listening sis!

To get the authentic flavor Chipotle is essential to this sauce. I love chipotle in adobo sauce, there are many brands all pretty good, but I found this really good. see the image below (its not sponsored, I love the product). If you can’t find chipotle with adobo, ground chipotle powder works well or use smoked paprika.

Here are some recipes you could try.

  • Fajita salad bowl
  • Chipotle style burrito bowl
  • Grilled Fish Tacos
  • Fajita chicken tacos

ingredients

  • ½ cup mayo/ vegan mayo/ sour cream/greek yogurt or mix of mayo and sour cream (use one)
  • ¼- 1/2 (2-4 oz) can chipotle in adobo sauce, start with ¼ add more as needed, and adjust to your taste, you could you lesser than a 1/4 if heat is not your thing.
  • 1 small clove garlic
  • 1 –2 teaspoons lime juice, use more or less to your taste
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt, more or less to taste
  • ½ teaspoon ancho chili powder or any mild chili powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon mild sweet smoked paprika (optional)

instructions

  1. Place the garlic clove in a small food processor and pulse it a few times.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend to a smooth sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning to your taste.
  3. Add a little water if necessary to thin out to a sauce like consistency.
  4. Store refrigerated in a tight fitted clean jar or a squeeze bottle and use within 3 weeks.
