Beet Ginger Orange Smoothie

With all the holiday eating, sweet treats rich food I find it comforting to drink a nutrient rich smoothie to start my day the right way. When I start my day with a potent smoothie like this I tend crave for fewer treats. It keeps my energy levels sustained, the fiber keeps me full longer and sweetness from the orange and beets satiated.

If you’re unsure about raw beets use steamed beets. If you want to give it a try you really can’t tell the difference and raw beet is gentle on the gut. If you decide to use raw beet chop them into small pieces and blend along with other ingredients till smooth. ENJOY.

If you’re not into banana based smoothies, frozen cauliflower works really well. It has the texture of bananas but tasteless, also low is sugars.

  • 1 medium beet, scrubbed and chopped
  • 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower florets ( trust me you won’t taste it and it works)
  • 1 orange skin peeled.
  • 4 cashews raw
  • 1-1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1 inch piece ginger
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Place all the ingredients in a high speed blender and blend till everything is smooth. enjoy right away. SERVES 1-2.
