Matcha Latte with Adaptogens

February 2, 2019 by Meera Leave a Comment

There was a time I was addicted to coffee specially late afternoon. My stressful job was not helping me and that 3o clock coffee boost became a life saver, at least it felt like it. I also realized it was also a cause for my disturbed sleep pattern and anxiety. I knew things had to change. I went cold turkey one day and went for a walk just outside the office building to break away from that binge. It took a while and gradual I got rid of that habit.

I replaced it with herbal tea and later when I started working from home I made myself a matcha tea or latte depending on my energy needs. Now this is my late afternoon treat. If youre new to MCT oil start with a few drops and gradual increase to 1/ 2 teaspoon.

MCT is oil contains medium-length chains of fats called triglycerides. because of their shorter length fatty acid, MCTs are easily digested and come with many health benefits. MCTs are powerful, is odorless, tasteless, and adds rich creaminess. Read more about it here.

Tocos is a new to me I started using it about 6 months ago when I saw it been raved about on Instagram.Tocos is rice bran solubles, rich in a variety of nutrients and adds delicious creaminess to your smoothies or lattes. Its totally optional. Use a couple of cashews or almonds into your latte for that extra creaminess.

SERVES: 1

  • 1 cup, 250 ml about 6 fl oz, nut or any plant milk, hot, I like almond or Oatly for richer latte (not sponsored I just love the texture.)
  • 1 teaspoon good quality matcha powder
  • ½ teaspoon coconut butter or MCT OIL
  • 1 teaspoon tocos
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pitted Medjool date or 1/2 teaspoon maple syrup if needed, optional
  • In a sauce pan bring the plant milk to a boil.
  • Carefully place the hot plant milk, matcha, tocos, coconut butter or MCT oil, vanilla, and sweetener of choice into the jar of an upright, high-speed blender.
  • Cover and slowly bring the speed up to high. Blend until butter is thoroughly incorporated, homogenized and thick. Enjoy immediately.

NOTES: For iced latte replace the hot plant milk with iced plant milk if you like a richer decadent matcha throw in a 3-4 pieces of cashews, make sure you soak them for a hour at least before blending into a smooth drink.
