Immune-Boosting Green Juice

September 9, 2015 by Meera Leave a Comment

With the impending flu season around the corner, it’s time to boost your immune system with these powerful nutrients.  These powerful ingredient provide antioxidants to scavenge free radicals and provide your body to fight germs and keep you strong.

Each ingredient in this juice/ smoothie (either or all) has powerful vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, immune-boosters, flu-fighters and anti-inflammatory properties. If you find the quantity of ginger and turmeric too much to handle, start with half the amounts and build up. Your body will be ready to fight in no time.

Disclaimer: this juice does not replace immunizations, medications and doctors advice. Its meant to supplement and bolster immunity health with natural ingredients.

You will need:

this will make 1 -2 servings as a juice or 2-3 servings as a smoothie

  • 1 whole lemon
  • 1-3 medium organic apples or oranges ( depending on the season)
  • 2 inch piece ginger
  • 2 inch piece turmeric root or 1/4-1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric +a small pinch of black pepper
  • 2 cups organic baby spinach
  • 1 cup water or coconut water to thin out as needed
  • 3-4 organic large Dino kale leaves
  • a small handful of parsley stem and leaves ( optional but recommented)
  • 1/2 -1 cup chopped English scrubbed cleaned not peeled organic cucumber or fresh fennel or celery(optional)
  • a few drops of cold pressed raw extra virgin flaxseed oiL
  • Core and chop the apples or peel oranges. Cut or peel the skin of the lemon and cut into 4s. Scrub and cut the ginger and turmeric root, and rough chop the kale.
  • if you have a juicer run all the ingredients through the juicer starting with the turmeric and water & lemon last. The acid in the lemon will clean the stain out. Drink right away or store n a clean jar or bottle refrigrated up to a day.
  • If you don’t have a juicer no worries! blend it in a high speed blender like Ninja or Vitamix. Strain it through a cheese cloth or I like to drink it as a smoothie to get all the benefits of whole fruits and veggies.
  • If you are worried about the turmeric staining your equipment. Add ground turmeric after the juice is extracted and stir well.
