Bulletproof Matcha Lavender Latte

March 31, 2020 by Meera Leave a Comment

Im a big fan of Matcha in any form. I love its earthy, grassy flavor and of course I love the fact that it comes with antioxidant benefits. Most days I make a simple matcha tea no added flavors or milk, just hot water and matcha and because I developed a taste for matcha sans sweetners I prefer it plain. Occasionally if I have had a light lunch or I have just enough time for a hot morning beverage I make a bulletproof matcha latte. Bullet proof is fancy term for fat added to a beverage like butter, coconut oil or ghee. I didn’t use any of those fats and subbed it with nut butter and oat milk. I also made it without any sweeteners, but you’re welcome to add honey or sweeteners of your choice. Lavender adds a delicious floral component to the latte. If you can’t find lavender extract or don’t have it try use rose or vanilla or simply leave it out. Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups oat milk or almond milk homemade or store bought
  • 2 teaspoons matcha powder, really good quality like ceremonial grade
  • 1 teaspoon culinary grade lavender or rose extract or vanilla,
  • 1 teaspoon raw cashew butter
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey optional

Direction

  • Bring the oat or almond milk to a boil in a sauce pan. Take it off the heat.
  • Whisk matcha, lavender/rose extract, cashew butter and honey in the blender, carefully add the warm milk, and blend on high for 10-15 seconds, until frothy.
  • Pour into 2 cups and serve immediately.
